Snow Clearance
Snow ClearanceMany people will have been affected by the weather over the Christmas period of 2009, with heavy snow falls and sub zero temperatures. Many other companies said they can handle this weather but in actual fact very few could! Cochrane and Fleming were able to handle the snow without issues with a team of two snow plough's working 24 hours a day to clear the heavy snow falls, with the capability to add an additional 3 snow ploughs to our fleet. This allowed the gritters to follow quickly behind ensuring that the snow ploughed area does not become frosted.
Working closely with the Met Office we monitor the forecast from early afternoon to early evening in order to make a decision to take action as soon as possible. Our staff work throughout the night to ensure no disruption to your business or customers prior to any busy periods onsite.
The HSE 1992 Act (now including the HSE Preventing Slips and Trips at Work 2005 Act) states that in abnormal weather conditions, arrangements should be made to minimise risks from snow and ice on floorway and traffic routes. Meeting the requirements of this regulation can involve salt-gritting and snow clearing.
